The ATA Black Belt Academy of Deerfield started in 1992 as a local Taekwondo club in Pompano Beach.  In June of 2000 the club had grown so much, Mr. & Mrs. Peek decided to take the big step, and open a school.  The school now has over 200 students.
             One of the secrets of our school exceptional growth over the past few years has been the dedication to increasing family participation.  30% or better of our students are made up of families.  And our single-family students become a part of our extended ATA family as we all learn and train together.
             Another secret to our success is what the ATA calls The Black Belt Attitude.  Any one can be trained to kick and punch, but without the proper attitude, that person becomes a bully.  The Black Belt Attitude is an everyday thing that is practiced at home, at school, and at work.  A true Black Belt or someone training to become a Black Belt shows honor, respect, discipline, integrity, confidence, and self-esteem in everyday life not just on the training floor.
              The ATA Black Belt Academy of Deerfield is very involved with the community by working with our local schools to teach, Stranger Danger (children's self-defense) to as many children as the schools will allow.  We also are involved with our soldiers over seas by sending care packages filled with a little touch of home.  When disaster strikes, our disaster relief team is there to relocate emergency generators and supplies to help those that have been affected.
             Our school also offers opportunities for all students to compete in local and national tournaments.  We have several students who enjoy going to competitions; many of them have been ranked in the top 10 on the state level.  Some of our Black Belts have gone on to achieve top 10 status at the national/world level.  We also have 3 In-House tournaments a year so all our students can feel the excitement of being a winner.
